Creative digital content backed by data.

  • Hi! My name is Destiny.

In my professional life, I use both parts of my brain: right and left.* This is why I love what I do.

I'm a digital content editor and writer, as well as a content marketing strategist. I manage and mentor remote teams of writers who create strategic, best-of-web content.

I also work to drive traffic and position my clients in the search results. Then I measure the results and iterate in order to keep them on page one.

It sounds like a mouth full but it's not. Great reader experience is great SEO.

This is my website. It's professional, but not super serious. Like me.

*Recent research shows that the brain isn't literally divided into two hemispheres; but...it's a great expression. So I'm sticking with it.

    Sr. Marketing Director

As the Senior Marketing Director for Radicle Science, a health tech start up that ran real world studies on supplement products, I planned an editorial calendar and managing the content on the B2B side (supplement brands) as well as the B2C side (volunteer study participants). I oversaw the digital newsletters, planned events, oversaw ad campaigns for recruiting as well as managed the website and content for the blog. I supported sales with lead gen and collateral as well as maintaining the CRM.

    Digital Content Editor

KCL is an inspiring women-owned and led company based out of Boise, ID. I've built and lead a team of six full-time writers (contract and employee) across four time zones to create best-of-web, long form content for five different verticals containing about 3,000 pieces of content. (That's a lot of numbers, I know. And my numbers might be off. But I'm a writer given to hyperbole.) I've created a company-wide style guide, an automated project management process in Asana that connects the entire organization, and a 6-hour digital content writer onboarding that is both synchronous and asynchronous. Ok that last bit isn't exaggerated.

    Digital Content Writer

As part of a dynamic marketing and creative design team, I wrote blogs, eBooks, case studies and web copy for eLearning Mind, a learning and development design company whose clients include: Godiva, Facebook, Twitter, MAC and other Fortune 500 companies. Topics: Diversity and Inclusion, Learning Experience Design, Company Culture, Leadership, adult pedagogy. I learned a lot in this job. Not even being ironic. I learn while I write and write what I learn.

    Digital Content Writer

For Capture2 Proposal, a SaaS provider for government contractors, I wrote blog posts and social media posts. Sounds easy but...ugh...it wasn't. Government contracting is heavy on the jargon and acronyms. I had to get up-to-speed immediately, which proves that if I can mimic government rhetoric, I should probably work for the CIA. I interviewed SME's (retired military commanders and such) to write, in an expert voice, about the very convoluted world of capturing and winning government contracts. Quiz me.

For DxT (Death by Tequila), a tequila bar specializing in modern Baja cuisine, I wrote the web copy.

    Case Study and Feature Writer

For FMT Consultants, an IT solutions partner, I wrote for industry publications, such as CIO Magazine and I worked on their case studies for two years. Again, lots of tech jargon here, and a little bit of diplomacy when interacting with FMT clients and getting their approval. Most importantly, I learned how to tell pretty much the same story, over and over, in a novel, interesting way, looking for an angle that set each relationship apart.

    Resume

Here's where I'm at in my career.

It's a great time to be a writer; especially one that tends to be both right- and left-brained. I'm hyper-organized and process driven while also being creative and humorous. I currently work as the Director of Communications for Learning Matters Educational Group, a national hybrid charter school organization that serves at-risk youth.

Throughout my very diverse career, I've learned to manage multiple clients from a variety of industries, each with different processes, systems and rhetoric. While strictly adhering to deadlines, I deliver creative, insightful work that I'm proud of. I've crafted elegant, original content for new and established digital brands, as well edited multiple titles and/or guided them to publication as a book ghostwriter for Forbes Books/Advantage Media.

I've copy written for websites, written eBooks, books, blogs, case studies, marketing collateral and white papers for my clients using their unique tone and style as well as deep SEO research and digital content strategy. My work is always challenging me, pushing me to learn more as readers, inundated with digital content, demand higher quality and brands clamor for attention.

I've had the privilege of collaborating with and learning from some amazing teams. I'm grateful for what I've learned and for my clients, who have always taken the time to be generous and teach me.

But, I am a lifelong learner and I'm not stopping now. In 2021, I finished an MFA (Master's of Fine Art) in Creative Writing, and have enjoyed the impact this has had on my work. I am also taking UC Extension courses to earn my certificate in Adult Teaching, as training and mentorship is a passion of mine and recently completed the BLOOM Faculty Internship program through Orange County Community College District.

What's next? I don't know but I'm excited to find out!
